It’s a place where time seems to stand still, where sunsets are legendary, and every moment feels like pure opulence.
Now, this wasn’t our first rodeo in Santorini. We’d been here once before, so we were well aware of the crowd situation. But honestly, who could resist this place with such jaw-dropping views? I mean, every traveller worth their salt knows about those iconic blue domes. Imagine our excitement when we stumbled upon a place where you could actually stay right next to them – it’s called Oia Spirit Boutique Residences!
Let’s rewind a bit to the start of our adventure. When we first arrived in Oia, a friendly host greeted us and guided us through the charming maze-like streets to our accommodation. To get there, we had to weave through a line of people that seemed to stretch for miles, all on a quest for that picture-perfect social media moment. And that brings me to our main concern. We had read a few reviews before our stay, and it did make us a tad nervous about staying so close to those famous blue domes, knowing that they attract quite the tourist crowd.
To be completely honest, the tourists were pretty determined. One morning, we decided to wake up at the crack of dawn to catch the sunrise, only to find an organized line of early birds already forming, all eager to capture that perfect shot. Whilst we absolutely admire their dedication, it’s understandable how some might find this level of enthusiasm a bit overwhelming when you’re trying to enjoy the view from your balcony.
However, despite the bustling crowd, our accommodation layout ensured that we still had our privacy. It was almost entertaining to people-watch as the day went on. Plus, it’s worth noting that Oia Spirit Residences is tucked away in a private gated area. So even though you might spot tourists in the background, none of them were allowed onto the property, ensuring our view and experience remained completely undisturbed.
Passing through the private gates, we headed to our chosen accommodation. We decided to go with the Blue Domes Suite, complete with its private outdoor plunge pool, and it absolutely lived up to our expectations. The rooms were adorned in the classic Santorini style, a canvas of pristine white with a dash of contemporary elegance. Nestled within a charming cave, our standout favourites included the plush, cozy bed, the refreshing rainfall shower, and the thoughtful surprises they had prepared for our arrival. These surprises included a delightful homemade red dessert wine sourced from the island, rose petals and ballo0ns.
Now, let’s return to our outdoor haven. Like I mentioned earlier, we had our very own private balcony and a sweet private plunge pool, just perfect for two to kick back and soak in the breath-taking views while sipping on some champagne. And if that wasn’t enough, there was a second communal pool carved into a cave, and it offered even closer front-row seat to those iconic blue domes.
Given the limited number of accommodations on the property, only a handful of guests can stay at any given time, and we found ourselves incredibly fortunate to have the pool space entirely to ourselves during our stay. Within the communal area, you also had more options to unwind and take in the sunset, providing an abundance of choices from every vantage point.
The location was absolutely ideal – not just for the insane views but also for exploring Oia itself. There were a plethora of dining options nearby, which we’ll delve into further in our upcoming Santorini guide. That being said, we found it hard to tear ourselves away from the accommodation because it was just so fabulous.
Breakfast was part of the room package, and the hosts stayed in touch with us throughout our stay. Nothing was too much trouble if we needed help or had any questions. They not only took our food preferences but also noted our preferred time for breakfast delivery. It arrived promptly and was served on our balcony, a delightful way to start the day.

However, this place is simply magical, and we would absolutely recommend staying here. It feels like discovering a hidden oasis where you have the blue domes all to yourselves. Every aspect of our stay was outstanding, from the impeccable service to the charming accommodations and the stunning views from every angle. Finding a superior place to stay will be quite the challenge, and we’re already daydreaming about a return visit to Santorini in the not-so-distant future.
