If you’re looking for a unique and unforgettable UK getaway, Port Lympne Hotel and Reserve in Kent should be at the top of your list. From the moment you arrive at this stunning wildlife reserve, you’re transported to a world of adventure and luxury that’s hard to beat.
We decided to book a one-night stay at Pinewood, this hidden gem nestled on top of a hill in the woods of Port Lympne Hotel and Reserve. Pinewood offers cute little glamping pods surrounded by the roars of lions living nearby. It might be the simplest accommodation option on site, but the Pinewood pods still had all we needed: heaters to keep us warm, comfy beds, bedding, towels, and even a welcome pack with marshmallows for a cozy fireside snack under the starry sky later that evening.
The one thing to keep in mind about this type of lodging is that the showers and restrooms are communal and located in a separate building nearby. While they were exceptionally well-maintained, encountering a few critters was inevitable. However, I’ve heard that since our last visit, they’ve upgraded some of the pods to include en-suite facilities, which should make the experience even more comfortable.
If you’re in search of a touch of extra indulgence, there are numerous upscale alternatives available, such as lodges, treehouses, bubbles, secluded hideaways, and charming shepherd’s huts. Some of these even come with the added perk of a golf buggy at your disposal throughout your entire stay, making it easier to explore and enjoy the surroundings.
Every reservation comes with an exhilarating safari experience, offering you the chance to encounter a diverse range of animals. Additionally, you’ll have access to the expansive grounds, which are filled with plenty of entertainment options and a wide variety of drink and dining choices.
These include: Babydoll’s Wood Fired Pizza, Mansion Bar and Terrace, The Garden Room Restaurant and Bar, Pinewood Cafe, Basecamp Cafe, Lookout Cafe and BBQ, and Bear Lodge Reasturant and Bar.
As pictured above The Garden Room Restaurant and Bar was a firm favourite of ours. For a more upscale dining experience, the restaurant offers a diverse menu featuring locally sourced ingredients and a vast array of cocktails. The ambiance is sophisticated yet welcoming, making it an ideal choice for a romantic evening.
